B.A. in Japanese Studies and Women’s Studies from the University at Albany
Indiana is a TEFL certified English teacher with a longstanding passion for language learning. She hasbeen deeply interested in Japan since high school, studying the language independently and majoring inJapanese Studies while at university. In 2017, she studied abroad at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata
City, Osaka Prefecture, and took and passed the JLPT N1 exam. Previously, she held private at-home English lessons with 5 and 7 year old Japanese-speaking siblings who had recently moved to the United States. Indiana has worked as a freelance JP-EN translator as well as a case manager at her local refugee
resettlement agency, assisting clients with adjusting to life in the U.S. and navigating a new and unfamiliar healthcare system.
In her free time, Indiana enjoys cooking delicious vegetarian meals and going hiking with her dog. She is a big fan of international cinema, literature, and music. She is slowly building up her German and Korean language skills and looks forward to traveling more in the future. Indiana holds a B.A. in Japanese
Studies and Women’s Studies from the University at Albany.
